All external displays are run off the GPU no matter what (and in fact, even once they are disconnected, the Nvidia GPU icon stays lit up, so it seems to consume a bit more power until I restart the computer- does this happen to you too?).
If I plug them into projectors or monitors, my extended desktop works perfectly right off the bat.

I can use all three of my video outputs plus the laptop's display simultaneously. I just checked, and when right clicking Resolume's icon to open with the Nvidia GPU, it is already selected as default graphics processor because I chose that in the Nvidia control panel.

Then make sure your display outputs and Resolume are 100% all running through the Nvidia gpu. TLDR - If you upgraded to windows 10, nuke it and do a clean install. So, I have to make sure to use those 2 and never the Intel one. But, it turns out that my setup only uses the Nvidia card on 2 outputs and the 3rd is on the Intel gpu. On my laptop I have 2 dvi and 1 hdmi out so I thought I could use all 3 at once. If so, then connect your outputs one at a time and see if they work. Once that is confirmed, get some clips going, and change it to fullscreen on the laptop monitor and see if it works without any fiddling around. So, make sure that Resolume is starting up and running on the Nvidia gpu, and not on the intel. If it's different from what Resolume starts on, it causes trouble.

Sometimes if I just toggle the setting and click back to the previous one, then hit Apply, the projector/monitor starts showing the Resolume feed. I get pretty inconsistent results that require adjusting of toggling "full screen" / "scale to fit" and the resolution (sometimes the wrong ones are what end up working). With some tweaking of the chosen display's resolution in the Nvidia card's control panel, I can get displays to work but it is sort of haphazard.
